Welcome

Welcome/Bienvenidos,

It is an honor to welcome you to the Council for Latino Workplace Equity (CLWE) website. We have arrived at a very important moment where achieving diversity, equity, and inclusion is key to the growth and attainment of the Hispanic population in the United States. We recognize the many contributions made by Latina/o/x community members and celebrate their beautiful culture.

Hispanics have had a profound and positive influence on our country through their strong commitment to family, faith, hard work, and service. They have enhanced and shaped our nation with centuries-old traditions that reflect the multiethnic and multicultural dimensions of the Latino community.

The footprint established is unquestionable. According to the 2020 U.S. Census estimates, over 60 million people or 18.9 percent of the population are of Hispanic or Latino origin, the nation’s largest racial or ethnic minority. This represents a significant increase from 2012, which registered the Hispanic population at 53 million or 17 percent. A 2018 report showed that Latinos in the U.S. reached $1.5 trillion in buying power, which is larger than some countries' Gross Domestic Power (GDP). As of 2021, the number of Hispanic owned businesses was nearly five million. Yet our representation in leadership roles and board rooms in corporate America is still very low.

The purpose of the CLWE is to seek inclusion and equity for Latino leaders to claim their place at the table with certainty and conviction. Under the umbrella of the National Diversity Council, we leverage innovative and transformative resources to promote opportunities for the Latino community to rise and lead in corporate environments. Thank you for partnering with us to help advance current and future generations of Latino leaders in our great country.

Con todo respeto,

Council for Latino Workplace Equity Team
